THE OPPORTUNITY

Our teams look to gain an experienced Engineering Manager who brings a deep technology past yet is still very hands-on to take a leading role in helping our teams not only deliver the best possible product but also to develop themselves towards the best version of themselves. 
 

If taking ownership and leading & facilitating solid decisions in technology, processes and a team’s operating model are positive experience for you, you would be a great candidate. 
Ideally, you bring a strong and hands-on software quality mindset that you can teach and enthuse others with. You have a great sense about metrics, can help teams to organize around outcomes and you bring first experience in mentoring or coaching people and teams towards technical excellence in an agile setup. 
 

This is not a pure managerial role. We expect that a perfect match candidate would be able and eager to contribute some 30% of their time with actual hands-on work on software.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

​​

• Be a great lead to currently 16 very smart software people  

• Help teams to best organize themselves for developing the technology of our business. 

• Drive architecture and technical vision with team and CTO, maintain and frequently communicate our roadmap. 

• Research and evaluate software solutions and facilitate overall product architecture. 

• Lead detailed product definition based on analysis and requirements created in close collaboration with our product people. 

• Ensure documentation, so that every aspect of our systems and applications are sufficiently recorded, so as to serve as reference for new employees and for future maintenance. 

• Support and guide teams towards continuous renewal, experimentation, self-improvement, and optimization of our code base and work processes. 

• Inspire, grow, and develop software engineering teams and create ownership of outcomes in a respectful, open, and professional work environment. 

• Lead the creation of repeatable solutions and processes and automate (almost) all things. 

• Help teams towards shared ownership of awesome developer experience, joyful development processes & tools landscape. 

• Attract, hire, and retain passionate, skilled software people. 

• Develop, mentor, and coach development teams & individuals. 

 

WHAT YOU BRING:

• Exceptional experience in modern, API-first, cloud-native software architecture, and delivery automation for Apps and Web-based products. 

• Sound knowledge and broad experience with method-agnostic, pragmatic agile ways of working, with a focus on a safe, people-first culture. 

• Proficient in hands-on engineering of software for web/mobile across platforms and languages. 

• Demonstrated capability to inspire, develop, coach, and mentor individuals and teams towards technical excellence. 

• Excellent communication and presentation skills in English, able to capture non-technical audiences alike  

• Feeling somewhat nuts for TDD, test automation, continuous deployment, and experimentation – that'd be a plus!
